This movie is filled with so much awesome, even an apocalyptic outback cannot contain it all. AND, it introduces us to the sport of the future: and we learn it's just like Quidditch, but with less Malfoys and more ear-biting.

Gory post apocalyptic sports movie starring Rutger Hauer and Joan Chen. It's Rollerball meets Mad Max as Hauer leads a team of Juggers across a post apocalyptic wasteland playing a bloody and violent sport with dog skulls. Classic. A favorite of mine since I was a teen, I've finally gotten to see the uncut version thanks to joseywales. Thanks!

There's some good action in this dystopian sports movie, but the plot lacks structure and the characterisation is disappointingly light. The film's universe is expansive yet Peoples doesn't offer enough insight into its origins or traditions, so a little more exposition would have actually been welcome. Even so, it's creative aesthetically, and Hauer and Chen turn in worthy performances.

Dogskull Rugby: The Movie would be a more apt title.

typical Hauer fare. Decent enough acting with an incomplete plot that leaves you wanting more at the same time you're glad it's over.

Rating the uncut version; Salute of the Jugger. Absolutely ridiculous movie that just gets better and better as it goes. Just don't expect to do any deep thinking. I need to show this movie to more people!

A futuristic tale of competition and gore. This movie should be on everyone's \"Must List\". Once you begin it, you'll never want it to end.

I actually kind of liked this. It's an interesting idea and a really strong cast (Hauer, Chen, D'Onofrio and Lindo) hold it together despite some flaws.

A quiet look at a unique post-apocalyptic world, facilitated by dog-skull football and Hauer being quiet and edgy.

While the premise is decidedly goofy, and the plot and characters simple, it nevertheless manages to be quite riveting due to its unsentimental tone and reluctance to ever beat you over the head. Incidentally also contains the best line I've heard in any movie in a while: "I never hurt anyone for any reason other than sticking a dog's skull on a stake."

This film has a different title here in Oz ("salute of the jugger"), and is based on a Philip K Dick story I can't place. Interesting but flawed

Uncut version. The games are fun and I got a kick out of seeing D'Onofrio and Lindo in early roles, Chen too - she's cute even when biting through someone's ear. Still, we all know where the story is going and that kinda kills any excitement at the ending.

This 1989 B movie starring Rutger Hauer had a budget of 10 million dollars. They did more with that than most movies can do with any amount of movie.
