Had this movie had monkey butlers, would've gotten 100.

I watched this, not in childhood, but in adulthood. With all the confusion of puberty behind me and my slightly more educated self I can recognise a shit script and godawful acting. I've also seen boobies and even done sexy times like a super duper grown up, leaving absolutely nothing titillating about this film.

The year was 1988. While all my friends were pitching tents at summer camp, I was pitching my own tents back at home with a slightly warped VHS copy of the Blue Lagoon. When the analogy for two young castaways discovering their sexuality is an underwater shot of sea turtles mating, you know you have a masterpiece.

Oh, look! Pretty shells! Blue sea! Wide open skies! Nakedness! Genitalia! What a strange coming-of-age film, and who doesn't remember getting ship wrecked unto a godforsaken island filled with cannibals and skulls? But if the plot was cringeworthy, the dialogue alone was quite something in itself. "That's not true, you're always staring at my buppies." "Only because they look so funny!" Ah, Hollywood being sardonic. I would have expected nothing less from someone named "Henry De Vere Stacpoole."

brook is very hot.this movie is shown confusion of young cuple who are alone in island.They learn to difrence of man & woman body organs & attrection of opposite sex.

Full of eye-opening nudity for any ten year old! It's not exactly good though.

Brooke Shields gets naked, otherwise the only other thing that could have saved this movie would been to have left Christopher Atkins' character on the island. Stop whining.

Certainly sexy...but a bit of the "What is kiss?" genre. Resembling the 1971 film Friends in that.

Although interesting the movie was very shy about the subject, and in all honesty they were unrealistic. I can understand some clothing but right after the first implied sex while swimming??

Its infamously controversial reputation aside, this is really slow & plodding for pretty much its entire runtime with very little actual plot to speak of, which can work if the characters are interesting enough- see Before Sunrise- but that's not quite the case here. Atkins & Shields are fine- pretty good, even- but it's just a bit weird seeing actual underage teens being all naked & flirty & having a baby together. It doesn't help that the ending is super meh. But hey, the animals were neat.

Here's what I'll grant it ... I wasn't bored. I was pretty amused by just how bad it was, and unlike a lot of bad films, it didn't wear off. It's hard to be bored by a film where our young couple gaze fondly at turtles copulating and accidentally discover that babies breast feed.

Coming of age movie. Just how many teens come of age while alone with the opposite sex on a deserted island?

The infamy and nostalgia (for some) are much more interesting than the film itself. The photography is nice, but most everything else comes off as amateurish. Christopher Atkins delivers one of the worst performances I've seen.
