The Bobo

Ekland's so stunning in this that when Sellers shows up, I felt his story was an intrusion in a movie about her. But he's interesting & likeable & how he might achieve his goal was a mystery I wanted to follow. To its credit, the plan somehow manages to stay on the right side of plausible. What doesn't work is the end. The story's like a dog chasing a car: once the goal is achieved, there's a much bigger problem: a happy ending would feel wrong & so it unsatisfyingly splits the difference

Dull and dreary Sellers comedy looks and feels shoddy, starting with the hideous and almost unreadable opening titles; things don't improve much after that, with talented performers going way over the top to mine laughs that just aren't there; however an extended flamenco dance sequence which arrives in the film out of left field is so brilliantly choreographed and executed that it almost makes the film worthy of a recommendation.
