You can hear Nicholson's brass balls clack together throughout the entire movie.

I like it. Great music by Ry Cooder!

Not bad, it's just hard to care about much going on in this film. It's blandly made with uninteresting characters. Basically, you won't come away mad, but you will forget what you just saw in a day or two.

There's a lot to like in this movie. First of all a performance by Jack Nicholson that is among his best. On top of that it has well written characters, with good insight into their motivations. It has a clear sense of the themes it wants to get across; the divide between rich and poor through the Mexican-USA border. It's just too bad the movie misses a good plot to tie this all up better, settling instead in the latter half for a standard "white savior" plot.

It's so cynical yet gritty enough for me to find it believable, at least with the day-to-day border patrol stuff. The time frame doesn't seem to make sense. The difficulty of the border crossings also seemed inconsistent. Fav scenes: Nicholson shoving the BBQ grill into the swimming pool; the guy tripping and shotgunning himself in the head (trigger discipline!).

Super cheesy but entertaining macho man fest.

Distant recollection is that this didn't have too much going for it other than the presence of its star.

Decent performances from all the main characters but the main issue is the pacing. Felt like certain scenes were dragged out and not really necessary.
