The amount of talent on display is absolutely mind-boggling. Plus, a soundtrack by Vangelis? Count me in. I was surprised I had never heard of this movie before. So, did it live up to all that talent? Not really... The screenplay and direction are so-so, and some of the big names either phoned in their performance or were grossly underutilized. I thought it was entertaining, but it's nothing special.

Fantastic adaptation to a great classic tale. The cast is all good, the story is well told and the characters feel honest. The morality is appropriately ambiguous, and it's rather gripping in its drama. That being said, it is rather (unavoidably) slow, so watching it a second or third time could be tiresome, with the suspense taken out.

Good story, no wonder it was put on-screen handful of times. The main difference from previous adaptations is the ambiguity of Bligh's character, brilliantly portrayed by Hopkins. Not much use of Gibson. Vangelis score got me thinking about neon cities, not old geezers in wigs. Movie is nicely filmed, good use of exotic locations. A bit slow around the edges, but nevertheless enjoyable character driven adventure flick.

This is a movie that I like very much. On a wide-screen it was very enjoyable to watch this great adventure of a true story. I'm wondering where did they find so many, lovely, exotic girls in this movie. Awesome !

This is the best performance of Hopkins' career, one of the most accurate examinations of life at sea, and a movie in which a sneaky Daniel Day-friggin-Lewis is the THIRD best actor on screen.

Hard to believe a movie with so many great stars is discussed so rarely. Quite a jolt to hear how low and booming Sir Anthony Hopkins' voice once was, but not as much as an early seastorm that the ship and its men barely survive. Enjoy it, because you're gonna be bored on that dumb island for what at least feels like the whole middle hour.

Decent telling of a story told several times already. Hopkins and Gibson both due their duty. Nothing fancy but definitely watchable.

Adequate retelling of this story, but I wouldn't want to watch it a second time.

This is quite a sobering watch, with Sir Anthony Hopkins playing the strict, no-nonsense (read cruel) lieutenant Bligh. There's the hypocricy of Bligh claiming to know for a fact that such exotic natives are cannibals (which is ironic given Hopkins went on to portray Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs) and scenes featuring torture, with bloody violence depicted. Hopkins performance makes this quite good - other cast members do alright but his is the stand out performance. Its a decent film.

Yo why no one ever talk about this flick; had mad ownage. Young Mel Gibson (aka God Gibson) overacting to high heaven and young Daniel Day-Lewis (aka Daniel Day-Deity) smirking like the most aristocratic prick on earth. Mutinies, storms at sea, burning ships, Vangelis soundtrack and an astonishingly endless parade of bronze skin topless Tahitian beauties for like half the movie. Super solid experience!

Not a bad film, it has a lot of people that are very famous and I enjoy very much now. Good filmography and scenery, a slow story, a beautiful Tahitian girl, and a very few plot points.

Thanks in large part to its cast, and Anthony Hopkins in particular, The Bounty's retelling of the mutiny on the HMS Bounty is an intelligent, engaging adventure saga.

This was good, although I'm not sure about rewatch value. There is a very fine cast, and some great performances in here; Hopkins at his best, Gibson suitably unhinged at times, and a stealth turn by acting deity Day-Lewis. I'm not sure who I was meant to be rooting for here. Maybe that was the point? My first viewing of this since I saw Rob Brydon in "The Trip" doing a very fine Hopkins' Bligh; it was hard not to imagine Hopkins doing this in a fine Lake District eatery...

The performances didn't do much for me, and the score was poor. But it's morally complicated and engaging enough.

This is a gorgeous film that is so boring. Good story. Not so well told here.

For once, you can't complain about a remake of an old classic or crowd pleaser. So definitely as good as the movie from 1935, and definitely better than the slightly empty picture book from 1962.
