A Pixar movie in all but name. Funny, touching, and just terrifying enough to scar a kid for life.

An adventure that was clearly made with only children in mind, but something went terribly awry and it was made so that anyone could love it.

Someone should tell the writers that toasters can't talk, they can only toast bread. and talk.

This was obviously a precursor to Toy Story. The animation is like a cheap ripoff of Disney, but it kind of has a charm to it. The human animation is just weird, and so is some of the dialogue. The few songs are just awkward and drenched in the 80s. I also don't get why this movie is called "The Brave Little Toaster" when he's not even really the main character, all five of them are. It's a bit creepy that he plays with appliances too. It's a pretty forgettable movie overall, but not terrible.

I always liked the darker kid's entertainment when I was younger. It always seemed like when there was more pain for the characters throughout the film a good ending was far more satisfying.

Pretty much the most frightening animated movie in existence (The Black Cauldron does NOT count). However, it is legitimately touching due to what it grapples with: death, abandonment, and true friendship within adversity; all in a way that is accessible to children without becoming preachy. The Toaster commits SUICIDE to save his master; and let's not forget about that Demon Fireman...

This movie absolutely scared the shit out of me as a kid. Air conditioners will fucking kill you; never turn your back on them. Inspired pack rats all around the globe to keep useless shit in their basements, I'm sure.

Cute idea and mildly entertaining, but it gets tiring to watch the manufactured drama. It's also not helped by all the sudden tonal shifts.

Actually I haven't seen this in years, but I remember liking it; parts were a bit traumatic to me as a little kid, and the story is--different--but certainly memorable!

This is really a lot of fun, with some surprisingly dark, "WTF-am-I-watching-right-now" type moments thrown in for good measure (which I love seeing in kids' movies). Thurl Ravenscroft is particularly great as the irascible vacuum cleaner. I also really enjoyed all of the songs. Very good kids' movie from the eighties with a lot of heart.

Clear forerunner to TOY STORY is far more substantive and exciting than its kiddie-centric advertising indicates; takes the first act to get moving, but develops into a well-paced adventure saga unafraid to traverse some of the bleakest (and quietly nightmarish) animated imagery this side of WATERSHIP DOWN; the low-fi animation contributes greatly to the gritty and abrasive atmosphere. Can’t quite engender the same emotional connection to its characters as the Toy Stories, but still well done.

Calkiem, calkiem bajeczka o przywiazaniu. Dokladniej poprzez animowanie rzeczy/przedmiotów domowego uzytku bajka opowiada jak tesknia za swoimi wlascicielami, którzy przeniesli sie do innego miasta. Bajka dziecinstwa. ;)

Enough childhood charm to win me over, and it certainly packs an emotional punch, but the pacing and tone's all over the place and the musical numbers too unbearably 80s for me to take it very seriously anymore.

Toy Story did it better - concept, story, characters, jokes, everything. The meandering plot, shabby musical numbers, and constant petty, pointless squabbles between the characters wore this audience thin. Also, the score is overqualified for its job lmao

Catching up over time on some of those classics that have been lost to memory. This seemed like a decent one to revisit for some comfort food, and it's actually quite good. Even some of the musical numbers were enjoyable and fairly unique.

The Brave Little Toaster is a great movie. It's a fine enough children's movie. But beyond that, it's also rather dark. Very dark for a children's movie.

"The Brave Little Toaster" is not your typical family animated movie. "The Brave Little Toaster" is frightening, shocking, sentimental, depressing, and beautiful...all contained in one family film.

Loved it as a kid but haven't seen it since. Just saw it again to see how much Toy Story 3 actually rips it off. And yes, it is basically the same plot as Toy Story 3 (and to a lesser extent the first Toy Story) but everything is just so thin in comparison. The characters are vague, the action is uninteresting and the plot uneven. There are some nice, dark moments, though, but even they are seen better in Toy Story 3. To conclude, this is for children while Toy Story is for all ages.

Another childhood classic, but disturbing, I still feel back about getting rid of old appliances - I'd hate for them to be sad or lost or both. Definately therapy inducing - don't let your easily attached family members watch this.

The animation is slightly above meh, the songs are hardly notable, and it's frustrating to see the film's message waffle between anti-consumerism and mere nostalgia, but Jesus Christ are there some amazing things in this film. The great character designs and voices and tense adventure story fraught with real danger make it a memorable proto-Pixar gem.
