It has all the dramatic and intellectual refinement of a television show...a really LONG television show. Stanwyck tries valiantly to rise above the level of the material, but it ends up dragging her down with it--why did she do this? Not even the presence of the marvelous Robert Benchley makes much of a difference, though his Christmas present of air rifles to the small children was one of the few funny things in this. Robert Cummings appears all set here for his second career as a TV actor.

Old style romantic comedy with lots of wasted talent.

Sad to see Barbara Stanwyck wasted in a corny divorce comedy like The Bride Wore Boots (1946). While there are qualities and a few good moments here and there, the story and comic style was off-putting. Especially when it came to Robert Cummings's approach to the comedy. He was a lame character up-against a almost unlikable Stanwyck. This comedy had a lot of issues.
