Set in 1945 Germany, the homeland is being overrun by the American Army. There are only teenagers left to fight the Germany's war. Die Brücke is one of the best war (antiwar) movies ever.

One of the best anti-war movies ever. A great look at the horrors of war, and also an incredibly humanizing look at the German side of WWII.

Definitely one of the saddest films ever made. Although I kind of knew what would happen to the boys, it was shocking.

This is sort of a "Red Dawn" for WWII. The goofiness of watching these kids play soldier becomes incredibly tragic when you realize that this type of incident must have played out many times during the war.

A clear-eyed and brutal lament for the folly of indoctrinated and war-glorifying nationalism. Remarkable for its particular context - a post-war German self-reckoning - but its sentiments are essentially universal.

Takes a while to find its feet - the early scenes of kids goofing around the village offer nothing out of the ordinary, but this serves to make the second half all the more crushing. Perhaps the most brutal 50s film I have seen.

Good German POV anti-war film. Didn't like dragged out battle between American tank division vs handful of green teenagers. After all the build-up of the 1st half, I'd liked to see more destruction or personal toll to raise the stakes, or at least some closure. Beautiful black and white cinematography that transitioned from night to day. Fav scene: Iron Cross officer shows up, the kids are in awe, and then we see the wounded men in the truck throw them chocolate.

The message comes across loud and clear. The adults do their best to keep the children from having to fight but despite the best laid plans things go off the rails pretty quick and what was supposed to be routine becomes anything but.

Endelig turde tyskerne selv filmatisere, om end lidt rigeligt dramatisk, deres egen nære historie. Filmen er et godt tysk stykke historie og fortsat den eneste "krigsfilm" de kan være stolte af.

Ver um filme anti-guerra vindo da Alemanha é sempre um prazer e aqui o que fica mais evidente é o perigo do nacionalismo em personalidades em formação, o que não era uma exclusividade da Alemanha nazista e que podemos ver em qualquer filme americano meia boca.
