It was a little looser than I wanted but I could watch Peter Falk rob a phone booth so this provided more than enough to recommend. Interesting seeing Friedkin do comedy, especially because it works.

Comic crime caper that follows an episodic structure to mixed success. Features an awesome cast, but they've also all done better.

Enjoyable caper comedy in the OCEANS 11 mold features a fine cast essentially slumming, though the film is a lot of fun if you can accept it on a mindless level. Falk and Boyle especially appear to be uncharacteristically enjoying themselves!

The lavishly realised nostalgic period setting neatly houses this motley crew of great '70s actors who display an amusing and infectious repertoire amongst each other. The problem with the film is (other than Rowlands doing nothing in it) that the heist itself is ludicrously underwhelming and seemingly easy to pull off -- they just barge in (twice) and don't even worry about how much noise they're making -- I guess that's kinda funny, but it softens an otherwise fine film.

Viewed January 20, 2021. Very likable with a great cast of legendary 70s character actors, but it could have used a few more sequences that harness Friedkin's gifts for tension and suspense.

This is a lighthearted but entertaining film. The ensemble cast does a good job in this movie. The script is not perfect but it does have some fun moments. Overall I would recommend this film.

A true crime caper boasting a great director and stellar cast. The tone fluctuates between dead-serious and comical. Heist movies, some of them inspired by the very same 1950s robbery, had been such a fad over the three decades in the interim, that Friedkin's epigonal effort struggles to find a distinct voice. And the sentient but workmanlike script doesn't really measure up to the top-drawer execution.

Enjoyed it in the theatre as a 12 year old.

Friedkin mixes his customary harsh location grittiness with loutish humor.
