The Producer: "We need someone who has ample experience acting against a non-verbal, growling hairball, who can *convincingly* and *humorously* pretend he understands what the hairball is saying without looking like a complete schizzo." Ford's Agent: "Say no more, fam, I got you."

The story was a stretch I can't imagine a real dog doing all the stuff he did But it was a fun adventure film & had some beautiful scenery

There must have been a producers note that said: "make it more cartoony." Well, those geniuses and the other geniuses at Disney decided to make the vistas uncanny, the villain comically evil, the plot simplistic and droll, the character development as hamfisted as a Saturday morning kids show, and the wildlife animation about as convincing as staring at The Matrix falling code and still somehow being convinced you saw a dog.

Too much CGI.

Straddles that awkward line of anthropomorphising its CGI animal characters into uncanny valley territory – better not to have dogs interacting with humans as humans, unless you're going the full-bore "talking dog" sidekick! Otherwise, an attractively shot, reasonably exciting adventure film, with Ford adding his usual touch of gruff spark in support, though we possibly could have done without his fairly laboured narration (especially as the film reveals it really isn't his story).

This is a sad story of bad animal welfare, with an adventure setting (as if most people aren't already familiar with the basic story!). Its very much an ok film, not especially 'stand out'-ish but not really bad by any means either. There are some nice landscape shots and the characters are ok - the casting isn't bad, not brilliant but ok. I wouldn't especially recommend it, no.

Liking dog movies doesn't help the sappiness.

The late 1900s, during the gold rush. The life of the dog Buck is turned upside down when he has to exchange his California environment for the Alaskan wilderness. As the newest member of the sledge brigade, he is gradually working his way up as a leader. He also knows how to find his own place in the world.

hotsake mentioned how it feels sanitized and that's a good way of putting it. But hey, I'm simple: put an animal in a movie and I feel for it immediately (probably more than I do for humans, honestly). And that's the good part, I felt very emotional during it and that helps me forgive the fact that the rest of the movie is not memorable. But I have a hard time not recommending a movie that makes me feel this much, unless it feels manipulative... which this does not.

As soon as I walked out of the theater I started to forget the details of this forgettable film. I've got to hand it to Disney they sanitized the hell out of this story. Most of the acting is bad as is most of the CGI. Speaking of CGI why did all the animals and most of the landscape have to be CGI? This ended up being a sad dull movie that didn't even seem to be trying.

Good story driven by real actors and decent CGI dogs. I just strongly dislike all the animal cruelty moments, of which there are quite a few. You can tell a good children's story without also teaching children about evil. Also, a dog murders a human in this film.

I was resisting seeing this to the totally CGI dog, but I did want to support Harrison Ford. Beware, Ford is not in the whole movie. It's decent and sentimental but just didn't quite deliver anything special.

Don't pay any mind to the CGI work here. You forget about it after about fifteen minutes. What you will find is a real adventure film, filled with danger and excitement. Almost everything works here with some scenes being rather pointless, but those are few and far between. This is a really fun film that everyone should see.

I noticed a lot of people complaining about the CGI, mostly those who had seen the trailer and not the movie. I actually think this is a justified use of a CGI animal. They wanted the dog to have more human-like expression to it, to sort of give the audience a closer look inside its head, and animating it in CGI was important to achieving that characterization. I think it's a fairly enjoyable movie, and Harrison Ford is good in it. Not sure I liked it enough to see it again, though.

Was watching this at home with the family and tapped out after 30 minutes. CGI dogs, CGI settings, and saccharine to the point of me worrying I was going to OD on sugar.

The Call of the Wild trades adventure, peril and excitement for emotional manipulation via a grumpy but good-natured Ford and an clichédly evil, dog-beating Stevens. Whitford and Gillan barely have a presence in the film. The Sy-Gee portion is the strongest part of the film, warming us to the CGI dog. Unfortunately the Ford-Stevens portion that follows drags. Somehow the dogs look more realistic than the depicted nature. Ultimately, it's just a shallow, though watchable film with a decent score

This one will tug at your emotions especially if you"re a dog lover, but it is blatantly heavy-handed and its just too much to handle. We get it he misses his kid and the dog doesn't like him drinking. What could have been novelty became a gimmick. This movie is the girl/guy who falls way too fast. They seemed pretty nice the first ten minutes right before they started talking about your wedding. Too sappy with not much else.

Jack London'un Vahşetin Çağrısı kitabının sinema uyarlaması. İri köpek Buck'un evden kaçırılıp, doğa yaşamını keşfediyor. Harrison Ford'da Buck'a yardım ediyor. Buck'un CGI görünümü çok amatörce. Fakat sıkılmadan film izletiyor. Filmin sonunda, Buck özgürlüğüne üzücü de olsa kavuşuyor. Tavşan kaç tazı tut.

It's... Almost a good movie. If it weren't for the conspicuous CG and and some moments that go on for way too long, I'd have truly enjoyed it.

Don't like the complete CGI works of this movie. Feels lazy. The feel-good aspects of the story still worked nicely for the family. Don't know if it's just because we're bored during Corona-times, but I think I actually enjoyed this more than the Clark Gable version. I know, blasphemous for a classic movie lover!

Annoying CGI but the biggest problem is that the Omar Sy part is much better than the Harrison Ford part.
