The Cariboo Trail

Pretty easy going for a Sunday afternoon, but this is a dime a dozen western with a slightly exotic setting (Canada), although you'd hardly tell it apart if that detail were not explicated in dialogue.

A Randolph Scott flick that combines the gold rush with the cattle business, and where the scheming Victor Jory, in great villainous get-up, want in on all the money. Absolutely a enjoyable western, but I was mostly here for George 'Gabby' Hayes, as this was the legendary sidekick's 190th and final film (and I've seen 160 of 'em)! He would now turn his attention to TV and the Gabby Hayes Show. He was as lovable as ever, and made sure The Cariboo Trail (1950) was a quality sign-off.
