The Catcher Was a Spy

Has subject matter that is more interesting than the movie. I've had the book for years and haven't read it so maybe I should do that because it would have more depth. This is a pretty decent spy/war drama that doesn't do enough character studying. Fantastic cast, my boy Rudd is killin' it as per usual, but the first hour or so is only mildly okay and it takes until the final act for it to have any real excitement or tension. A little disappointed here but still enjoyed it.

An awesome cast for a rather milquetoast spy movie. Paul Rudd's character was accomplished but rather boring through most of it. The lovely Sienna Miller was sadly far underutilized. It has only a few nice tense moments and otherwise is very slow and methodical, so it failed to create much excitement. Worth watching but almost entirely forgettable.

Paul Rudd does what he can. The script is faulty with scene layout and over all structure of the plot. Perhaps that is because they condensed a very intriguing spy story into a very tense and breezy 94 minutes. It's very engaging as the level of deception is never quite revealed until the very end but it definitely is very lacklustre with the final confirmation and decision. Solid enough because of the actors involved each playing their role with ease. Perhaps too much ease.

Very interesting story with an exceptional cast headed by Paul Rudd. But he is portrayed as a bisexual, based primarily on the fact that he never married, but his biographer said he found no evidence he was gay.

I don't think Paul Rudd is the right choice for this movie. Besides that, eventhough it's based on a true story, almost everything is reflected bad and poorly. Mistakes were made just to keep the audience focused which caused me and some other people lose our attention. If you want to show Moe's life, do it. If you want to show the assasination of W. Heisenberg, do it. Just don't show us Moe's life after you talk about Heisenberg and bombs.

Paul Rudd was a poor casting choice, but everyone else was a really nice fit. Interesting story and excellent production value.

Very professional and well-intentioned, but the story lacks enough drama to capture and keep interest.
