Although there was 1 scene that might've felt more powerful if McGovern overacted a bit, this is a thoroughly compelling drama & character study . McGovern plays the kind of well-intentioned rule follower many Hollywood films & an increasing number of liberals try to present negatively. It hooks the viewer in with a mystery as to why her character would volunteer for this trip & refreshingly, shows how unwise, predictable & tiresome chronically unconventional & rebellious youth can be.
