The family has a long lost cousin who is to inherit a fortune and they try to hide this information, hoping to gain the inheritance for themselves, by taking her to the family vacation home in the mountains. Their guest, the actor, discovers their plot and tries to reveal the truth through an amazing recital of the Scrooge story in Dickens, The Christmas Carol. A moral one with quite a bit of humor. Giving Joseph Schildkraut a rare lead gives this more credibility, but they have a ton of funny people surrounding him to deliver the smiles. Wouldn't have hurt if Schildkraut was better at comedy himself, but his presence gives it that downer sarcastic feel and that makes this something a little different for the time.
