Cute and funny most of the time. But it's just a bit too standard and too polished to be anything more.

Incredibly heartwarming and non-stop funny. It's light, sure, but in the same vein as with the expression "short and sweet" (which also happens to be the case with The Chef), "light" doesn't have to be a bad thing. Youn is hilarious and Reno is good as ever.

Lovable characters, lovely story, a bit funny even though I don't understand much french. Very mainstream.

Neat foodie comedy. It follows the formula but it's consistently funny and warm with very likeable characters. Jean Reno is perfect.

Minor-league comedy that is saucy in a different way.

The French make a mid-90s's Hollywood comedy about cooking. There's probably more earnestness about food in Ratatouille, but Comme un Chef does deliver enough laughs to keep it entertaining. Once I got past the total lack of realism, I did start to enjoy the film for the fluffy comfort-food equivalent for film it's trying to be. Youn plays a (mostly) sympathetic protagonist with tons of frantic energy, though either the lighting or make-up don't suit him; while Reno adds a touch of legitimacy.
