Solid, well-written, and surprisingly violent adaptation. Like its predecessor, it manages to flesh out its source material in clever ways. Plus, Peter Dinklage.

Darker than the first movie, but still enjoyable! The production of the movie is really good! The cinematography is beautiful, and the CGI's are even better than in the first movie. Aslan is beautiful, captivating, and realistic as ever! I would have liked a little more character exploration and a little less emphasis on battles - but this is my only critique really. The acting is still good, the story still interesting, the humor still funny and the world still beautiful!

It is also a place that's filled with more life lessons than you may remember, though. Between battles, brief as those interludes are, there emerge some pretty compelling allegories, both spiritual and cultural. At the fore is the assertion that even in a world devoted to reducing stories of God's faithfulness and miraculous interventions to mere myth, we can make a choice to believe. And that choice will, quite literally, be our salvation. (pluggedin.com)

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is an improvement on its predecessor and makes for a very enjoyable sequel. Its characters are deeper, its story and themes are darker, and the villains have a devious plan instead of a wishy-washy one. This is an entertaining, action-packed fantasy movie. It runs for two and a half hours but it doesn't feel long. Its action is rather violent and I'm surprised the film got away with a PG rating. If you liked the last film, you're going to like this one.

I never really enjoyed the actual C.S. Lewis books, and I didn't really enjoy this movie all that much. The entire series reeks of religious undertones; the film feels more like Peter Jackson's masterpiece with a tad of Christianity dabbed in. The acting is sub-par, though not awful; the effects have all been seen before; the cinematography seems to be ripped from the LOTR series -- this movie does little more than disappoint. A good cinematic experience; but not one you couldn't find elsewhere.

'You may find Narnia a more savage place than you remember," says a misanthropic dwarf to the Pevensie children near the start of Prince Caspian. He's not kidding. Andrew Adamson's follow-up to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005) is, almost as much as the CS Lewis novel on which it's based, a film of battles and fights and military struggle. Gone is the sense of child-like wonder, replaced by a darker, more knotted vision of the world.

The religious tone is much too strong in this movie. Even worse (or better), it should really make you question christianity. Why does Aslan allow countless soldiers to die before saving the day with some magic? Why do some get their lives or their tails back, when others perish? It seems that Aslan didn't use his great powers because people had lost faith, when he clearly could have ended it all before it even began. Sounds pretty fucked up to me.

As well as the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe the great fairytale with nice epic battles. The good thing is, Caspian is darker and do not have to introduce so much characters as the first film. On the contrary, the plot feels to be more flat and camera not so good and effective. It's good and nice to be back in Narnia and enjoy the fairytale adventures again.

A step up from "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" (which I also liked). This one removes most of the cheese from its predecessor and focus' more on the action. Hard to believe they spent less money on this one because it's really a brilliantly done film as far as the animals and the overall special effects. This one also injects a lot more hilarity. Really a great film that I can't wait to see again.

I've never read any C.S. Lewis except for Mere Christianity, which I didn't like that much, and this was the first Narnia film I've seen. I was pretty underwhelmed, and spent most of my time in the theater trying to locate sexual undertones. "It feels like magic!" Yes, my dear Lucy...yes it does.

The Lion, the Witch, No Wardrobe maintains the medium-high standard of its forerunner, higher, that is, than the standards of such close-by epic cycles as the Lord of the Rings series and the Harry Potter series. The narrative elements seem somehow to have more heft, more harmony, more resonance, and the individual installments demonstrably stand more solidly on their own.

aside from the plot holes and tolerable religiosity that comes from swiss-cheese-brained jesus freaks, it is an enjoyable and action packed movie. for anyone who is a die-hard LOTR fan the similarities may be too much, but for the average movie goer a solid fantasy movie.

My biggest gripe here is with these four kids. Mostly unconvincing, they wander around the Narnia world with a sense of importance that I fail to recognize. Maybe the problem rests with the actors. The CGI Aslan and Tilda Swinton make only brief cameos here this time around, and much of the story plods along a bit until the final attack. Some great effects sequences, remarkable looking creatures, but it's too kid-friendly at this point in the game that distracts from the desired fierceness.

The adventure has potential, and it's nice to see some continuity, but the magic of Narnia is gone. It's gorgeous in many places. It does not justify its length, however. Everything feels contrived and very much avoidable in this one.

Although it still falls way short of greatness, I enjoyed it more than the first, if only because the technical aspects - the special effects, cinematography, editing, costumes, weapons, sets, and so on - are all stepped up substantially. And hell, just a lot of fantasy battles. Fantasy battles are cool. The flaw though lies in the fact that I just plain DO NOT CARE about the characters. They could all die and I would yawn. Except Peter Dinklage, he's pretty darn cool.

Paint by numbers fantasy. Adamson is doing fine work turning a classic children's series into tedius movie watching. Completely uninspired. The bar has been set for what can be done in fantasy, Adamson seems content to settle for a standard signifigantly less.

Definitely an improvement over the first one and pleasant enough to watch, but the direction is completely uninspired. LOTR came out less than a decade ago and already the sweeping, music-filled scenic shots were tired before that series ended. Here, they seem little more than a knock-off. The characterizations are fairly blasé outside of the interesting Lucy and a couple of the Narnians.

Absent any exposition, the film can be embodied by the Telmarine catapults of the climactic battle: constantly firing, scene after scene, without any impact at all except to ultimately close the door on the sustainability of the series. It's not that the scenes, or even the performances or effects, are necessarily bad. They just don't mean anything—are utterly insubstantial. A disappointing miss.

Lumbering overblown fantasy is told with far too heavy a hand, and is absurdly padded to nearly 2 1/2 hours to boot. Pompously self-important dialogue combines with a cast of pretty dreary actors (though Dinklage is good as always, hidden behind a mound of hair and dirt!). Battle scenes at least are competently staged, but with precious little drama or suspense about the outcome, it is hard to become truly invested in the melee. A cold, calculated POTTER wannabe (ironically enough!)

This is a fine adaptation of the book. There are some fairly significant story changes here, but they work better in the movie this way. Personally, my favorite in the series has always been Voyage of the Dawn Treader, so this one is kind of just a nice outing to set up the next one in the story. Hopefully that one will actually be made.

Better then the first one. More darker wich i like. The special effects where alsow way better , especially the Neptunus-attack. What I didn't like was the whole thing about prince caspian , if he was supposed to be the king shouldn't he do something usefull and fight ?? The people of narnia could do it without him , maybe even without there old kings and queens. Tought the scene with lucy alone on the bridge was cool/funny. Overall a good family-film , nothing more. I was interested of this chapter because it should be more darker than the other one. Yes, there was some good scenes, but it's even more dissapointment than the first one. Director takes good time to explain what happened between chapters, but it took too long to do it. And in the end, is this a kid flick anymore? Haven't read the book, but pretty violent for youngster. Story in all was a mess. Tilda was good in her part; similar she acted before.

Prince Caspian has great special effects and some undeniably exciting action in it, but it is ultimately lackluster due to serious misdirection of the story and virtually no substance at all. The acting is poor and the writing doesn't stand out either; this just seems to be a duller version of the story C.S. Lewis wrote, but the action is certainly a highlight and makes it nearly recommendable for the most part.

Even as an unabashed fan of the other two films, I still hated this. I'm not even entirely sure why. I think the first Narnia might have been a little better. This is more of a personal thing to me, though, because Mr. Tunmus was my favorite character. It was odd how Peter and Edmund swapped personality roles and they never really explained why. It was also odd that they introduced humans residents of the Narnia world. Wasn't the point of the first one that the kids were the first humans to enter Narnia? The only thing that this movie has got on the first one is the epic battle scene!
