An interesting failure. A great cast winds up being largely wasted in a boring look at suburbia. Has some intriguing ideas but fails to fully - or even mostly - capitalize on them.

An interesting concept with some really great moments, but the story is a little too silly at times and you get the feeling the movie is repeating itself.

I think, that had I not once lived in the sort of community portrayed, where parents are so lost in their own worlds that children fall by the wayside to be left to their own devices, and denial runs rampant, that i would not have enjoyed this movie as much as I did. But the fact that I've seen people self destruct into the characters in this gave it a certain poignancy that made it that much better.

Gotta be kidding me. I started this movie and never thought I would be so pleasantly surprised. Pure mindfuck. This has to be one of the weirdest films I have ever seen. A pure gem of imagination and artistic blend of directorial auteur take this movie to a new height. Thematically dreamy, unreal surrealism, strong character focus and splendid acting are few strong points. The music soaks you in. All the characters melt in the movie and produce one hell of a cinematic experience.

I liked it when I saw it, but it's easy to forget. I can see why someone would LOVE it, though--it has an audience, and I can respect it for that.

Pretty bizarre movie but chock full of solid performances by great actors.

This movie wants to rub it's "indie-ness" in your face. It has everything that independent film seems to thrive on: suburban ennui, melodrama, teenage angst, tragic occurrences, comedic absurdism. This film also includes a number of strange visuals and stylistic choices. It may be trying so hard, but still, The Chumscrubber is a unique experience and has some artistic merit.

Barely remember. Think I liked the weirdness. Loved Camilla Belle and her mom.

A bully (knock off Billy Joe Armstrong) and his sidekick (the stoner guy from Clueless), together with the “cool girl”, kidnap a child to extort the best friend of their drug dealer (who committed suicide) so they can get all of his stash. What The Fuck. I’m left kinda bewildered. I don’t even know if I liked it or not. Just…what

"It's vision of suburban living is about as artificial and narrow-minded as the original NES Paperboy game it seemingly evokes during its opening CGI sequence." - Ed Gonzalez

This film has an excellent cast who play their parts with precision. Unfortunately its not much of a story and is quite boring.

It is hard to tell who is more messed up in this movie the parents or the kids. All of the characters are screwed up in one way or another in this film. There are a lot of good scenes and some interesting characters in this film but the ending is unsatisfactory. I can not quite recommend this one.

If you take a bunch of early Offspring albums, throw them in a blender and pour the concotion over a projector, you get this flick. A brutal and deadly-accurate satire of growing up in SoCal. It features surprisingly good acting and a well-paced script. It is a little hamstrung by its vague attempt at being Magnolia with its "everything-is-connected" mysticism, but it's only a small detail. Overall, it showcases how wealthy Los Angelinos layer on facades over a bubbling maelstrom of depression.

Another one of these "tabus in sub-urbia" (none of them match to American Beauty). Some of the characters were verry clishé, but the movie was entertaining and messed up a bit in a Donnie Darko kind of way. Kids and drugs, always interresting.

A story about teenagers who are either ignored or misunderstood by their parents. The movie includes some stupid lame animation. There is some clever story telling, a few clever intense scenes but mostly the anticipation provided more exciting than the events. It was effective at showing the disconnect between the adults and teenagers in a small suburban town with the adults being almost as strange and unpredictable as the teenagers. Also, this has an idiotic title.

The idea of creating a pop-culture landscape is more interesting on paper then the screen. There's a few intereting visual flourishes but nothing works here. I like Jamie Bell but this isn't the film that's going to put on the map.
