The Corruptor

Had a great time but that's because of the company, not the crappy frequently unintelligible dialogue & over focus on plot & giant faces. A solid car chase with bystander snuff action & a couple loud gunfights break up the waiting around. Stupid transitional shots, dumb ending.

The Corruptor isn't anything special. It doesn't have great or interesting action scenes (they're well-made but lacking in variety), the characters aren't developed at all, and any attempt at depth falls flat. But I still enjoyed it because it was set in a somewhat unique location and because it had a few surprises that kept it feeling fresh. Sometimes, you just want to sit back and watch a brainless action movie. It's not a great film, but it's not a waste of time, either.

They put too much on Marky Mark's shoulders and it is clear he could not take it. The rest of the movie, while far from perfect, would have fared better if such a central character wasn't so blandly played.

I really like Chow Yun Fat so I probably rated this higher than I should. It is slow, boring and lazy.

After seeing this movie, I breathed a huge sigh of relief. While not spectacular, it's very solid in every way that counts, and after the abysmal Replacement Killers, Chow Yun-Fat was in dire need of a well put-together film with reasonable mainstream appeal to regain lost ground with viewers.

Pointless mess of a film that once again fails to use Chow Yun Fat properly. Mark Wahlberg has a wooden "too cool for school" facial expression in most of this film. The script is completely terrible trash and i'm not sure why they thought this would be a good dramatic vehicle to feature Chow Yun Fat and Mark Wahlberg together.

Poor.

Alright, nothing special, entirely predictable - oh he turns out to be IA, shock horror - so predictable that I was convinced for a while that I must have seen it before.

Brainless action flick. Bad, but if you're doing the ironing at the same time, it's alright.

Seems unable to tell the story it wants to tell. But stylistically it's still good enough to be mildly enjoyable. In other words: 90s bonus points. :>

Yun-fat Chow wildly overplays every scene like most of the actors, except Wahlberg, he looks like he just couldn't care less about this turd of a movie.
