Slightly better than its reputation. Von Stroheim phones it in, but it's cool to see Dwight Frye as a good guy.

That whole thing looked like some silent. The highlight was Crespi talking to Steven...but that assistant guy was a total silent-movie star.

Ah.... Erich von Stroheim as a evil doctor! He has a formula that'll make it look like his rival is dead so he can bury him alive! What love makes us do.... It's not a A-class picture, but for a lesser production it work quite well and has some memorable creepy moments. Most notably Stroheim talking to his pal the "corpse". A horror regular Dwight Frye (Dracula, Frankenstein, etc...) gets to be the good guy here and according to IMDB gets his highest billing of his career!
