A great Buñuel film. It may be a little less hard hitting on the social commentary front and a little less creative visually than his best work, but both those aspects are definitely there and the story is just wonderfully entertaining. The acting is also quite good, especially from Ernesto Alonso.

Another excellent tale of obsession from Bunuel.

I love how this film looks and feels just like any other Mexican flick of the time, but as you go on watching you realize that none but Buñuel could have made this.

Great shots and a fantastic starie are pretty much shat on with one of the most tacked on happy endings ever. It was so happy I assumed something bad would happen just cause of how grand and cliche it was. (this happy ending was used to get past censor boards of the time, it's still terrible though). Also the 2nd chick acts a little non-realstic at parts but rarely takes you out of the movie

Amusing tale, and I liked it a lot, especially the more I reflect on it. Felt a bit... oh, insubstantial, perhaps. Not one of Buñuel's best, but a worthwhile hour and a half nonetheless.

A fun and pretty clever premise and great execution make this top-tier Buñuel. (Well, to be fair, 'Un Chien Andalou' deserves a tier to itself...)

Em honra dos 120 anos de nascimento de Luis Buñuel. Filme psicanaliticamente divertidíssimo, é um dos melhores da fase mexicana do diretor, só queria deixar a dica que no momento em que o protagonista está ouvindo a caixinha de música pela última vez, o mesmo se encontra recostado no sofá como se fosse um divã, não por acaso alí ele tem o derradeiro insight contra sua própria misoginia. Brilhante. DVDRip Classics.

I liked this more than I like a lot of Bunuel--it's a fun and clever premise and while it's not often laugh out loud funny, I found myself smiling quite a bit. It's a pretty bizarre concept but it works very well, though the ending kind of brings it down quite a bit. Very entertaining and accessible.

Essentially the American Psycho of its generation, though the trend of Buñuel's cute but obvious social satire eclipsing his fantastic basic premises continues. Archibaldo is a charming enough lead whose suppressed psychopathic frustrations are empathetically funny around the types he has to deal with, but these darling moments are lost in the more common traditional yuppie mockery. Watch The Exterminating Angel for a more even fusion of Buñuel's imagination and satire.
