I'm glad I'm no longer 14 and think films like this are great. It's shame Brandon Lee died, even more so died making a crappy film. Saying that, at least he doesn't have to watch fat goths dress up as the Crow like the rest of us have had to for the past 15 years.

Really corny and just reminds me of dorky high school goth kids. Full disclosure: I was a dorky high school goth kid, so this movie just burns me up with a sense of shameful self-recognition. Now it is time for me to play the guitar on the roof in the rain.

Despite the fact that it's a simple revenge movie it is so well done. The outstanding acting, intense atmosphere, great soundtrack and unfortunately the tragedy of Brandon Lee made this one an unforgettable viewing experience.

This movie was ahead of its time in how it avoided a silly funnybook approach to comic book movies, and instead respected the source material. A large deal of that comes from the great technical aspects, including the Blade Runner/Batman '89 sets and photography, rock music soundtrack, and of course, the phenomenal Brandon Lee performance. And the story is perfect too: a Hamlet-esque fantasy of revenge with a heartbroken hero in mourning. Amazing, and one of the best comic book films ever made.

I hate what it did for society (goth culture that makes The Cure seem like The Fray) but love what it did for 100 minutes of filmed revenge. It's a dish best served as cold as the ground he digs out of.

One of my favourites. The epitome of the cliche revenge plot, with the best fucking visuals, great action scenes, an over-the-top atmosphere. And crows are just incredibly cool fucking birds. I mean, a group of crows are called a murder. AND Brandon Lee died making this movie. Just overall an amazing experience.

It's dark and brooding with some wicked black humor thrown in. It has great performances from everyone involved with an especially amazing performance from Brandon Lee who was just starting to get out of his father's shadow (who I think would've made an amazing Joker had he still been alive, just sayin) I love everything about this film even to this day. By far one of the best comic book adaptions ever (the best of the live action ones bar none) and one of my all time favorite films period!

Awkward, sophomoric, and useless. Time has not been kind to this movie. I remember thinking it was decent the first time I saw it. After a re-watch, I'll gladly admit to being wrong. Not even France could compete with the amount of cheese in this film. There were several lines that were so embarrassing that they made me feel physically uncomfortable. Also, the camera work suffers from a serious attention deficit and the whole thing plays out like a shitty goth music video. Sorry Brandon Lee.

Even if this film hadn't been punctuated by tragic/ironic loss, it would still be one of the best films ever made. The dark dampness of the city creeps inside as the righteousness of Eric Draven's revenge sinks into your bones. David Patrick Kelly, Michael Wincott & Bai Ling are particularly exceptional bad guys. But Brandon showed his absolutely brilliant talent in this gripping and captivating fantasy. I did see some of the show, but I never could watch the sequels. For me, Lee IS The Crow.

The mood is definitely the film's most striking, and effective, aspect. It's a combination of the cinematography, the set design and the music that just makes everything feel appropriately desolate within the decaying city backdrop. The vengeful kills are all great scenes, but the impressive part is that even through their violence the film maintains its melancholy feel. It explores loss and revenge from some rather unique perspectives, and it mostly works.

The Crow is a dark Action/Thriller that stands out thanks to its sheer originality. The action is choppy and intense which is often very fun to watch, and though, not to sound prudent, but some of the gore is slightly distasteful and unnecessary. I suppose though, part of what makes it great is that at no point does this movie hold back anything. Really good!

Incredibly moody and gothic with a great score that sets the scenes wonderfully. Some of it is a bit overly cheesy (such as playing a guitar on a rooftop then smashing it), but for the most part it just oozes badassery. Seriously, Brandon Lee was fantastic in this; watching him dispatch his enemies was a joy because he was brutal but also incredibly odd. Plus, the movie managed to hit some emotional points, and it's always nice with a revenge flick has genuine heart.

A really well made film that holds up well for further viewings. The whole dark and gothic feel is captured so well, kudos to the filmmakers. The Crow is a nostalgic 90's B-Movie throwback that I still love to revisit. This film is no doubt overrated and it is arguably more iconic rather than it is good. However it seems that there is still a strong cult following for The Crow. And love or hate Brandon Lee, it was undoubtedly fitting that this, his best and most memorable role, would also happen to be his last. Further more I think he was perfectly cast as The Crow. Hopefully this character will get a second coming in years to come.

Considering how comic book adaptations were generally awful until X-Men came along, this is actually a really good effort. The limited budget is frequently visible both in terms of casting and SFX, but the mood and story are spot on, not to mention the stellar soundtrack of well known 90s rock bands. There are a number of humorous moments along the way to lighten the very dark tale of supernatural revenge, and for a certain demographic, this will always be fondly remembered

Overrated in some circles. It's a good adaptation of the James O'Barr comic series. Brandon Lee was decent, but the real draw for me was Michael Wincott. The screenplay was weak, but Wincott stole EVERY scene (I think it's his voice). Ignore the sequels, this is a good movie.

(after multiple re-watches over the years) I used to love this film as a teen, but I guess one always grows up from movies like this one. It draws a lot from the cheesy action films of the 80's. Gritty, grungy, dripping with atmosphere & stylistic flair, & featuring great performances from a cast who go all-in & then some, it would still be great without the tragedy attached to it. Brandon Lee shines as the ghostly avenger of a crime-ridden city, Ernie Hudson is great as his unlikely ally, & Michael Wincott is superb as an over-the-top arch-villain. The story is well-crafted, the dialogue is clever, & the title character is iconic for a good reason. A fun, worthwhile watch..

RIP Brandon Lee. Despite the real tragedy behind the making of the film. It stands unique in the comic book genre (we do not count Spawn) for its dark revenge driven main character. Lee gives a solid performance and it works well as a final film for him. If anything to remind us that despite a rocky start, all performers can eventually come out with a star making role. The Crow is and action packed spectacle, with manic villains and perfect music.

Back when I was your average slightly gothic early 00s teenager, the main political topic that divided the likes of us was whether The Crow or Donnie Darko was better. I used to think both were the most stylish movies ever made. Then I grew up, became an old fart, and rewatching The Crow makes me wonder what I ever liked about this movie. Even as a teen I was right: Donnie Darko was the better one. The crow sets a properly dark mood, but tells a bland story with bland characters.

Such a cliched & thin storyline would normally require the following to be so successful: interesting characters; clever/funny dialogue; great visuals. This fails on the first; scrapes by on quotes & allusions that sound profound to young people: &, thankfully, excels on the last. So, why the huge franchise? The creator's loss (which also made this attractive) gave him an inspired idea: make Death Wish but w/ Bronson being young; emo (depressed in a "cool" way); unkillable & Gothic-ly Romantic

Somehow I find it hard to take seriously a guy putting on Goth makeup while The Cure blares in the background and jumping along rooftops to Nine Inch Nails. Just didn't work, man. It's ass-ugly, way too dark and muddy. The whole thing is narrated by a little skateboarding Linda Manz-in-Days of Heaven, who actually has lines like "sometimes if love proves real, two people who are meant to be together, nothing can keep them apart". Besides that, Brandon Lee is TERRIBLE. He's so soft and silly and... I'm done. I can't even. I might have liked it when I was 10, when I liked dumb shit like Highlander, but probably not. The dark urban fantasy from the late 90's early 2000's tv shows and movies do a disservice to the movie. Because The Crow ends up with aesthetic, themes, and sound effects that became cliché after it, and so it is hard to separate it from the many subpar work of fictions that followed similar recipes and kind of oversaturate the genre.

Stylistically striking, if somewhat derivative, debut from Proyas. Its adolescent take on romantic tragedy is silly, so are scenes of Lee playing guitar on rooftops, and it is hard to watch without thinking of fat goths and wannabe Sherlock Holmes/Watson looking types waddling around western capitals shortly after its release. Nonetheless, the gritty grunge goth aesthetic is gripping, and it is a damn sight better than the anonymous conveyor belt comic book films polluting the market now.
