Exciting story somewhat marred by age. Someone should remake this as an air raid in space!

In this film, one of the inventions made during WWII, a so-called 'bouncing bomb', is followed from the state of idea to the practical use. War buffs will definitely enjoy this film because it is accurate and there are no unnecessary subplots. The bomb dropping scenes drags a bit - they are trying to hit the damn dams for half an hour in the same sequence repeated over and over. Film ends in a high patriotic note - there is nothing like dying for your country, and I am not a big fan of those.

This is the future Brexiteers want; pets named after racial slurs and irritation on their chicken farms. Boring as shit, and kept waking me up when they called out for the dog

This movie takes its time. It depicts events in a distinctly non-Hollywood style, very little exaggerated drama. Probably very much like things were actually done back then -- haste makes waste. Is it too patriotic? Compared with modern WW2 movies we see much less black and white thinking. The Germans are not pure evil, they are just 'the enemy'. The RAF pilots sure act up a bit with their silly fist fight, but then it's 1955. Slow down before watching.

I don't mean to harp on a minor note but did the dog really have to be named that? [and he's constantly brought up too] Enjoyable almost through the entire 2 hours from an entertaining (& familiar) premise leading up that dynamic finale. I don't think I've seen a British war flick presented in this way, like they're puffing their chests up to match the American equivalent.

Frequently misattributed as the inspiration for the Death Star attack in Star Wars. It isn't, 633 Squadron is almost shot for shot - look it up on youtube. That doesn't stop this from being an excellent piece of film making.

Moving and bitter sweet study of brilliance (Barnes Wallis) and one of the most technologically amazing events of WW2. The acting is sincere and of its time with the added dimension of knowing it is an accurate representation. If you ever wondered where the attack on the deathstar got its inspiration look no further !!

The coolest thing about this movie is that it's one of the flicks Pink watches on TV in _Pink Floyd The Wall_. It's a passable but not especially noteworthy WW2 adventure

A classic British war movie no doubt, but even with all its class and pomp, "The Dam Busters" hasn't stood the test of time too well, and every time I see it is seems that bit more ragged and aged. Still the main performances are good even if some of the support performances are not, and the history interesting as well as ingenious. However most people watching this nowadays will spend most of their time laughing at the name of the dog!

A damn (ho ho!) good flick. The way it builds to its triumphant climax -- a CLEAR influence on the Death Star assault in Star Wars, by the way -- is expertly done and riveting entertainment. Michael Redgrave, who was so wonderful in The Browning Version, submits a fine performance as the driven Dr. Willis, and the pilots are a team worth rooting for. Some of the special effects are laughable by today's standards, but the aviation sequences are gorgeous.

An epic story and an interestingly put together film but it feels quite laborious in places and definitely has that' upper class pro patria mori 'war film feel to it.
