The film's strongest aspect is the visual - the frame is always thoroughly inhabited by interest and/or beauty. A quiet movie, an all senses - though the plot is about terrorists, there is no hysteria, and conversations are often held in low tones - stretches have no dialogue at all (not a bad thing, since the writing isn't always so good - at least embarrassing moments are kept to a reasonable minimum). Bardem is great, and his face is so interesting that he carries the movie effortlessly.

The one and only movie what was directed by famous Malkovich. Every element you see and hear has a purpose. Movie is such a piece of art, that terror on screens is somewhere in background. And i love the musical score.

A rather trite but half-heartedly entertaining telenovella.

"Feels less tantalizingly ambiguous than it does like a prologue that has somehow taken the place of the story that was meant to succeed it." - Chuck Rudolph
