The Dark Angel

This is the 2nd film adaptation of an unsuccessful play by Guy Bolton, and it's so oddly implausible and melodramatic that it's tough to see why there was even one.

Fairly enjoyable, always predictable melodrama if it’s time.

A fine tearjerker with Fredric March in good form as the man of war who returns blind, not wanting his lover Merle Oberon and close friend Herbert Marshall to know he is still alive and now handicapped. A lot of the movie is how March deals with his dark world adjusting to his new life while they keep a light suspense with several near-meetings between them teasing around until it was time for the big climax. Marshall however was very queer in his role, which ruined some of the impression.
