I don't know if there was a scene in this movie which didn't involve someone drinking liquor. Although I got confused a couple times, it was a very clever film, which led to an incredible conclusion.

This doesn't depict Polish reality. It rather shows how badly has Polish cinema become severed from reality. Believe me, this movie is an epitome of over-the-topness and badly executed too, to say the least

A Poland import about a zootechnican's night of adventures at a rural farm is interspersed with a police investigation at the same premises. The narrative jumps in time back and forth among the two aforementioned incidents. The story focuses on Poland's State corruption under the Iron Curtain, and though not too thought provoking, its very well acted and remains funny and entertaining till the end. Recommended.

The movie didn't really come alive for me until the final 30 minutes. A pretty basic story, but it's really well acted and it pulls through in the end.

A pretty basic story, or rather two basic stories, lifted to greater heights thanks to the way they keep switching back and forth. It all leads to a pretty gripping climax that ties most of the story threads together. There's this great sense of (moral) decay and darkness throughout that I really liked. Too bad the jazzy elements of the soundtrack lessened the impact of the visuals sometimes.

A bleak reminder of why people drink so much in Eastern Europe. But damn if that chicken noodle soup didn't look hearty.

Great Polish movie. You feel dirt, fetor and poverty. Very good jazz music, a lot of humour. A little bit exagerated image of Polish society from 80's.
