While the fights stay a bit too down to earth, the chemistry of the two leads makes this a fun ride.

While this feels quite cheap at times and the action never really lived up to my expectations, the chemistry between the two leads completely exceed them and totally makes the movie. Fun!

For what's little more than an excuse to watch Scott Adkins beating people up for ninety minutes—whilst featuring more cows than one would usually expect—it's pretty gripping.

French (Scott Adkins) owns a gym and teaches people martial arts. However, the gym is not doing very well, which makes French struggle to pay his bills. To earn some extra money, he goes to work for the infamous Tommy, a California criminal. French is tasked with teaming up with Sue. The two must track down people who owe Tommy money.

The story is more bare-bones and straight-forward than I even thought was possible; they literally spend the first 2/3 of the movie just going from place to place, beating people up, and sometimes taking money, that's it. It does well to not bite off more drama than it can chew, and the script moves nicely from one action scene to the next. The in-between bits aren't anything special but they are well-acted from both leads. A quick, enjoyable time with a lame gunfight to end it on a fizzle.

This was a solid movie made worse by weird, random "cow scenes". Scott Adkins is really good in this and quite funny. Louis Mandylor was surprisingly good too. The story is decent as are the fights. But the film is fast paced and has a buddy cop vibe that keeps things fun.

There's, like, an attempt at style here in the title cards, bluesy music, and inexplicable cow inserts, but it's almost worst than no style at all, and the "snappy" dialogue falls flat and fails to even imitate better material. It's all just kind of blah. (DNF)

The plot is...who cares. I mean its Adkins showing up and beating up those who have a debt to pay. Louis Mandylor is really great as the sweaty-grizzled-guy-who-wears-open-button-up-shirts. Nothing spectacular, but everything necessary for an Adkins flick.

Whodathunkit, Adkins has some comic chops. The plot is low-stakes compared to the usual messes Adkins' leads seem to find themselves in, but it lends itself well to a day-in-the-life portrait of some of the seedier LA underworld's corners and characters. It's a very post-Tarantino mid-90s film in that regard, but I've always had a soft spot for the type, and fortunately, it doesn't attempt to cop the worst of that era's excesses (so much bad pop culture dialogue). The highlight? Louis Mandylor.

Enforcers with a moral compass. Some nicely staged fights and good humor make this a good and straightforward actioner. Mandylor and Adkins make a great team, both kicking asses and exchanging joke bits.

Charismatic characters and crazy fights punctuate this action story. It was pretty good up to the stereotypical Hollywood gun battle. It was fun to watch and ended well.
