The reason I really liked this movie: I was plagued with the question about where this boy belonged. It was a decent movie, with fine acting. But I mostly enjoyed how thought-provoking it is.

There's two major plot points, both of which you can find in the synopsis, and everything else is pretty much redundant material which doesn't make for a great watch.

Flat, unfocused drama almost willfully follows its least interesting plot thread (the ongoing ups and downs of Pfeiffer’s family) when there is potentially fascinating and explosively emotional material sitting idling; we know nothing about Ben, and the impact the events of the story have on him, which leaves the feeble attempts at wrestling with the conundrum in the later stages with no emotional weight. If you want a TVM distinguished by Pfeiffer’s reliably fine performance, then have at it.

Sweet, happy movie... definitely has its moments (and boring parts).

The typical 90s Pfeiffer mediocre movie elevated by her performance.

More or less a Lifetime movie of the week made honest by Michelle Pfeiffer's performance (this is a recurring thing for her). It's melodramatic and at times manipulative, but it's a fairly good watch.

Not a bad story or movie, but it feels more Lifetime than HBO, if you know what I mean. A little too melodramatic and not enough substance.

Intriguing premise. An abducted son is raised by a stranger and he doesn't want to return to his birth parents. The film focuses on estranged brothers rather what was, at least to me, more interesting - the dynamic between the biological parent and the "foster" parent. Great start, depicting the despair of the birth parent but the rest of the movie felt shallow. Like it was afraid to tackle the parenting issues so it settled on the brother dynamics (even though it has a reason for it).
