Nice try, Satan. I know as well as anybody that your real candy is Chuckles. Every last one of those gelatinous quadrilateral hell sweets should be picked up out of the kitchen table bowl of the elderly person's house they're sitting in and be tossed back into the fiery depths you both came from. Good rant. I need to find a movie I can use to let loose on Charleston Chews now.

We all know that heavy metal is the key that unlocks the gateway to hell. We also know that paintings are commonly believed to be gateways to the soul. So what happens when somebody tries to use that hell-key on the soul-gate? My guess is damnation equivalent to an eternity of gnarly riffs shredded forth by an under-thin paedophile.

Needs more Maiden. The kid from Dutch got hella camaro-fied for this one, and he is a completely ineffective horror protagonist -- in a good way. It's purdy good at doing the horror plot thing where it answers jack shit while still leaving everything on the table. Look, I'm a horror fan, we have completely nonsensical expectations.

Sean Byrne's sophomore film is a no holds barred horror romp. It is tightly crafted and wonderfully shot to give a feeling of dread that starts quickly and is wrapped up promptly. Violence and metal mesh to create some pretty wicked imagery. One of the best horror films of the year.

There were many parts of this movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. Mostly great atmosphere, imagery, and music. Some incredible tension and I really liked the characters too which doesn't seem to happen as often in horror movies. The ending however was only ok. Some intriguing premises were hinted at but never fully explored which I found disappointing. Also, while most imagery was great, some of it especially near the end was a little questionable.

The thing is, the atmosphere it is all in here, the rest is barely normal.

A confident cinematic approximation of death metal, for better or worse.

Somewhat original crossover of the home invasion/evil house story that never really figures out what story to go for and ends up feeling like a TV special edited for length and content, but gets in some good punches along the way.

Cars that sneak up on people. Felonies committed by a person identified by 3 people and the police don't make effort to find him. Creators that don't know how fire works. Local police offering witness protection when they do start to care. A magical gas can. Shots and themes so heavy-handed that the lead actors shirt literally has the words printed on it. All that in the most cliche movie you've ever seen. OH, and heavy metal duuuude

Has sporadic pockets of intensity and an effective antagonist amidst a story lacking in originality. Macabre Month of Horror review: https://youtu.be/u_wlvz13NMk

Quite frustrating in that the family comedy is heartfelt and wonderful while the horror elements are rather uninteresting and feel like they get in the way. Not what I expected to write when I started the long awaited follow up to the excellent LOVED ONES.

Interesting look at the very known story. Embry is great, Appleby useless, Pruitt Vance great as always. When you take this movie as a successor to Love Ones its a big letdown.

A great cast pulls this film out of a rather ho-hum script.

PSI 80 for this piece of crap? This is ricockulous! The music's good, and some Metal inside jokes, but the movie's below mediocre, don't bother.

I came to this movie with an unfair amount of hype a coworker built up for almost three years. I really like the scene where Nazi footage is playing in the background while the priest is explaining that the devil is more terrifying than how he is typically viewed in a red suit with horns. It was interesting to see this nuanced perspective represented in the genre.

I enjoy this movie a lot. I think it's severely underrated. The acting is great. It's not too long and not too short. the atmosphere is solid. Boy, that painting is absolutely phenomenal and i would love to have it!
