The Devil's Doorway

I wish it had done more with the premise, and it really stretches the found footage concept, but I like the format when it's done right, and despite the fact that it feels very familiar in a lot of ways, I enjoyed it. There was some good imagery here, decent dialogue and sense of style. The final act in the tunnels felt very uninspired so that hurt it, but up until that point I had it at a 70 or a 75. Still worth a watch for horror buffs even if it's unoriginal.

Ironic that I picked this movie, cause I wanted a short film on a Sunday night before work, but from the moment it started I wished it was longer. Devil's Doorway is the poor man's "The Last Exorcism" it needs about 10 minutes at the beginning to develop character and mythos and about 10 minutes given throughout the film to connect all the weird cuts it takes. The gimmick saves it, and it does feel like a 50's-60's documentary at points but it doesn't go in depth on any themes or characters.

I did not even see more than 15 minutes.

Possession, demonic pregnancy, priests and nuns and exorcism, a slack found-footage-ish style of photography, no box is left unticked. Rest assured you've seen all of it a gazillion times before, God forbid there should be a single new idea in the entire movie. Oh it's Northern Irish. Bet you didn't see that one coming.
