The Devil's in Love

Starts out strong with hard characters of The French Foreign Legion compiled mainly of guys with something to hide. Victor Jory is as reliable as can be in his role. Dieterle does a magnificent job with the grim imagery and this could have become a film to remember had it not been for Loretta Young turning up. Okay, she's not at fault. But the film turns soft once she enter taking this the standard Hollywood romance route. Basically the plot quietly loses it's focus to focus on the female star.
