The Dirk Diggler Story

For a first start The Dirk Diggler Story is a really interesting movie. I can see the desire by Paul Thomas Anderson to make a better quality movie but he was restrained by budget in this movie. The quality of the production help to make it a believable mockumentary. There were some genuinely funny moments in this short but there were also some very sweet moments here too. The gay relationship between Diggler and Rothchild was very sweet. I wonder why Anderson chose to take this out of Boogie.

Interesting blueprint of Boogie Nights that shows much of the potential but is kinda awkward with some of the writing and the acting is terrible in a few critical parts. Still a great idea and fascinating to watch as a companion to his later masterpiece.

Interesting "Short" by a very young P.T. Anderson. You enjoyed boogie nights ? maybe you'll give "The Dirk Diggler Story" a chance.

If you are a fan of PTA, you are going to want to see this. He made this when he was 17 years old and was already beginning to establish his trademark camera techniques. If you aren't a fan - stay away - otherwise this is very interesting/cool to see.
