Disappearance is a continuation of the Melancholy franchise, so it is necessary to have watched the show to fully appreciate what is going on. That said, what an achievement. Darker than anything that has come before it since the characters feel alive in this world, no small part to the amazing character development that Kyon receives. As the last season of Melancholy faltered quite a bit, Disappearance is an amazing farewell to the franchise.

Far superior in pretty much every way too the show, but requires the show for context. I was glad i got to see this, so i guess it makes up for the shows shortfalls, this is more of what i expected from the show narratively but it didnt deliver. But, since this is worth seeing, its worth going through the show to get context to see it.

It really did a good job of portraying how dull Kyon's life is without Haruhi in it. This is easily the best part of the Haruhi franchise. Believe the hype.

Much better then the series. I'm not a fan of Haruhi Suzumiya herself, so it was nice that she wasn't in at least half of it. Yuki became my new favourite character, or at least the "new" Yuki. I really wished Kyon didn't push the button and just stayed in the club with Yuki. Her life was really sad, she was shy but really cute. All she wanted was another member to join the club, and fucking Kyon chose that cunt Haruhi over her. Still, it was a good first half, mediocre second half.

I don't remember much of the movie, but it's not very similar to the series, as it's amazing in it's own way.
