Somewhat strange and dark, and actually, on its own this is a good movie, but when you've read the book, it really doesn't come close. It misses the mysteriousness and the intellect of the book. You can never fully understand what is going on between Max and Onno without having read the book. But, as I said, this really isn't a bad movie, quite good actually.

Mistake - When Onno rubs on the stone tablets a little blue spot appears; the stones are made of saffier. In the next scenes when Onno and Quinten carrie the tablets around the spot is not seen anymore.

It's good, but not as good as it could've been. I like the dark mood of heaven though.

Read the book instead. It's not a terrible adaptation, but the book is vastly superior in every way and is very much worth reading, while I wouldn't say this film is worth watching.

A major disappointment. Starts out fairly decent, but the second half is just filled with ridiculous contrivances and simply becomes embarrassing. When your whole movie is in essence a deus ex machina all tension is lost anyway, but a lot of elements in this flick border on the insultingly ridiculous. Some angels kill a character who knows too much by dropping a meteor on his head. Seriously. Bad acting, bad dubbing, bad script and bad pacing form the icing on this boring cake.

Based on Harry Mulisch's same named novel. Looks like director has tried to create similar atmosphere than in novel. Acting is brilliant. I just did not understand what for all the fuzz was needed. There was friction between Heaven and Earth but what exactly? Kind of pointless.

Saw it on the side of a remarkably versatile garden shed. Will mostly remember it for drinking Gin-Gini with two great friends.
