This is the type of movie that I imagine little British boys gobbled up like scones in the 30s. Adventure! Exoticism! Roger Livesy! Okay, maybe not the exclamation point after Livesy.

I think most would agree this British creation is visually up there with the most striking adventure films of the 1930s. The exotic locations and culture presented in beautiful Technicolor glamorizing British imperialism in it's take-over in parts of India. This is the second film featuring the exotic wonderboy Sabu. And the film is probable most pleasing when he's involved. I really liked this movie. Especially when looking at it from a 1938 perspective where it stands out in many ways.
