It bothered me that I was rooting for the Nazis but at least these are some good hearted Nazis. I honestly thought Larry Hagman was Gerald McRaney. Dallas and Simon & Simon were two of my mom's favorite shows.

Fine WWII actioner, with Sutherland's amusing performance as an irishman, and Pleasence's rather incredible transformation into Himmler, the highlights. It's unfortunate that 70s Michael Caine tended to be a bit dull, as he is here, but a rich gallery of supporting players (with treacherous Marsh another standout) and generally exciting action scenes, makes for a very enjoyable, pleasingly old-fashioned war film.

Terrible day for night goes on for 20 minutes or so near the end.

A well-made and mostly well-acted reverse Dirty Dozen-type film that kind of falls apart to make room for the tense final act.

A relatively exciting thriller which doesn't quite live up to its promise. Sutherland hams it up wonderfully, Agutter plays sex pot, but Caine and Duvall only get semi-meaty roles. The English countryside makes a splendid setting for a bit of intrigue and capering around, but the sharp end of the film brings merely a series of noisy gun battles. Could have been stronger if the plot were a little tighter and the action less chaotic; still, a fun 70s star-studded high-concept war film.

Sutherland is a standout in this politcal thriller. Recommended.

The book upon which this is based is very interesting. It doesn't translate well to the movies for one simple reason: Our heroes are Nazis. Sure, we're lead to believe that they are Nazis with good intentions, but still... they're Nazis. Not only that, but the movie moves very slowly and is quite boring.

Stellar cast, well put together. Takes a little while to get going but the last half hour or so is absolutely breathless.

"The Eagle Has Landed" was skillfully written with very nice pacing. The all-star cast performed efficiently if you overlook the lack of German accents.

Fun and entertaining war adventure. It sags a little in places and loses a bit of purpose and direction. A nice way to spend a Sundee afternoon after the footy!

Not sure what they wanted to achieve with this film. One second it is all fun and jokes, the next one we see someones brain splattered. Unusual story and approach with a few great British actors on top of that, but the end result is somewhat boring.

This movie gets started on a promising note, but it is sabotaged by a weak, contrived ending.

Good cast. A group of Nazi soldiers carry out a desperate plan to capture Winston Churchill. They infiltrate a English town and pose as local military. The mixed in love story was ridiculously weak. The music was harsh and hammering. Performances were good, but the writing was somewhat poor. They portrayed the German soldiers with a sense of honor. The story plays out as a tragedy for most of the soldiers. Sometimes tedious to watch with only a few memorable moments.

Near brilliant war adventure with great characters and perfect action. Also good job at making you root for the nazis.
