Impressive for its time. Showing the mental strain of a WWI pilot dealing with the horrors of war.

62 where '62" is downscored by looking from a current viewpoint, forget the "not good" rank, that is incorrect. Competently done WW1 flying pic without the depth of the classic flying pics of its time. The acting is fine, as are the sets, but the script lays it on a bit thick in showing the despair of the hero, the by the numbers (or "of their time") secondary roles tend to grate as well. One that needs to be watched with a conscious remembering that it was made nearly 90 years ago.

Routine World War I bromance, albeit with a hefty dose of star-power from sensitive Fredric March and roguish Cary Grant. The script is weak, and similar stories have been told countless times since, sometimes better than this one, although the staunch anti-war stance is admirable, and there's a nice one-scene role for pre-stardom Carole Lombard. Comedy sidekick Jack Oakie did little for me.

Far from being among the greatest war movie, but The Eagle and the Hawk is still a quality picture. Much due to the three main actors in Cary Grant, Jack Oakie and most of all Fredric March as the reluctant war hero troubled with inner demons. Oakie brought the comedy. Grant the rebel edge. And March being the story.
