I would have preferred if the film had concentrated a bit more on Dylan Thomas. Here we have this great poet; a complex, fiery character, yet we spend most of the film focusing on his mistress and her dreary love affair with her husband. It feels like a soap opera whenever Knightley and Murphy are on screen together and it's compounded by the fact that they have absolutely no chemistry. Rhys does a great job of playing Dylan Thomas, but I just don't understand why he's in the background so much.

If you want to say something good about this flick, they were leading ladies, though even they were not on their best. Sienna more than Keira. The latter half made the story a better with burst of emotions, but the very ending was again lame.

Something is simply not executed well when the prospect of watching my cat barf on the carpet is far more appealing than this piss-poor excuse of a motion picture. It requires great depth of skill to make the scene of arm amputation as painfully humdrum and bland as this one was.

Starts off with an air of authenticity, an interesting time and location and eye candy in its cast. Proceeds by not really doing anything worthwhile with its assets, nor having any juicy plot points. Concludes by going completely off the rails and ruining everything it created. Sienna Miller is probably the best actor on show here but even her meatiest scenes are fleeting moments in a film which feels like flotsam adrift on a torpid sea.

Talking shit in a sing-song cadence and smoking fags with an orange camera filter. Smoking fags and talking shit with a teal filter -repeat x times.

Fairly typical, believable synergy between the leads on the bright side.

Neh, it wasn't the most memorable of movies, but it was enjoyable. Even Sienna Miller didn't completely ruin this movie for me.

"The film is on far less ground when it eventually becomes yet another wartime domestic tale, with Maybury's semi-kicky style draining out slowly until mediocrity settles in." - Jason Clark

Tediously self obsessed, like an overlong magazine shoot.

Keira Knightly and Sienna Miller are ravishingly beautiful in this complex story of love and betrayal. The situation is extreme but I found myself really hating the bastard poet by the end, even though he was a stand up guy he could never redeem himself for his misdeeds and loathsome life choices. The script is stupid and pretentious most of the time. Hard to understand some sections, even with multiple reviews. I really wanted to love this, but there are too many flaws in story and the making.

good to see Cillian Murphy in a role as what he is, a man!
