Must be seen on a big screen - the beauty of the rainforest and the cinematography do not translate to a small screen. And that is the whole charm of the film - the plot is pretty unbelievable even if it is based on a true story

OK it's not really based on a true story, but a really, really exciting movie. One of the strangest adventure movies ever committed to film

A great social and environmetnal awakening... Could be a little passe now, but as I remember it, it's pretty visually striking with some fine performances...

Heavy-going, dazzling to look at, finally uncomforting dalliance with themes originally explored in _Tarzan the Ape Man_, e.g. would man do better to return to nature?

A man with large eyebrows and Powers Boothe trot off into the jungle to act badly, meet some Amazonian types and rescue Powers apparently ADHD affected son. PSI of 61!? You're all barmy!

Wish the cinematography was in service of a better movie. Still, pretty good.

I was all about this for its first two thirds as the assimilation of little Boorman into an Amazonian tribe and then his father's understanding of this was pretty unique. Then we get daddy Boorman pooping in with guns and a revenge tale for the final act. Exciting? Yeah it is, but it felt at odds with what came before.
