The Enchanted Drawing

These old "trick films" are actually pretty cool. This is surprisingly well done, and the facial expressions of the cartoon man are quite amusing. It should've been longer, though. One and a half minutes simply ain't enough time for a proper narrative arc or character development. You hear that, Edison?

Quite funny and, what's more important in this case, pretty interesting (in the "whoa-it-was-done-in-1900" way).

This is another neat little trick-film of early cinema which flirts with the unison of live-action & animation. Amusing.

Blackton gives the quickdrawing routine that brought him into the movie industry a huge upgrade, with a clearer look for film and some some perfectly executed stop tricks.

Nice employment of cutting - over a 100 years old...

A lot of these "trick" films and ones that used special effects are in a lot of ways better than many longer works made a century later. This one is not only charming but it is still a great trick in combining real footage and animation.
