As a piece of art that holds great anthropological merit, it's great - but it's also a tribute to the joy of travelling and anyone who can relate to that, will love this modern fable. Oh, and the best voice-over ever.

The real highlight of the film is its photography, capturing wave after magnificent wave from all over the world. The narration is an innocent charm, even as it's a bit cringe-worthy in some places. But most striking to me this time was how much the world has changed, how isolated these guys were on their journey, and how nearly impossible it would be to recreate that journey today. There's a small-town, communal quaintness about the whole thing that remains endearing.

There's no questioning the strength of filmmaking, the enthusiasm of the subjects or Brown's sometimes amusing, sometimes grating narration. It's just that surfing really doesn't do much for me, and the wave-riding becomes repetitive quickly. Some charming moments along the way.

Revisited this one recently. Sparkling photography diminished by mildly racist but eventually banal voice-over commentary.

Pretty fun with some beautiful footage of landscapes, animals, and of course surfing. Also, the way the narrator talks for other people is hilarious. Manages to live up to that poster.
