Ernie Turner is released from a mental hospital and evicted from his apartment. Alienated and indifferent to life, he meets Donna, a beautiful young woman while wandering down the street. Donna takes pity on Ernie despite him being in a terminal state of confusion and the two become involved with each other. Later at a party, Ernie meets a former girlfriend, Gail, and the two resume their previous relationship. (imdb)

I didn't like it. I can understand why the young audience at the time thought Ernie was a caricature of the youthful spirit of the '60s meant for older folks to look down upon. I can't get over my disbelief that he has such strong, independent female romantic partners. It's mostly quite boring. I enjoyed seeing '60s Montreal with English signs. And why was there so much red? Nice song by Leonard Cohen. Fav scene: Gault dancing/seducing through her apartment, especially the bedroom with 2 doors.
