The Errand Boy

A really funny send-up of Hollywood egos, arrogance, and anger. Ironically, these are the exact qualities that the public often associates with Jerry Lewis.

Its cleverness has been somewhat overstated, but its meta aspects are mostly successful. While it can't compete with The Bellboy for staging, there are some great scenes, especially the one where Lewis is impersonating an arrogant studio boss, and many of his observations about gophers and underlings ring entirely true. The inspiration for this film may have been Lloyd's Movie Crazy, but it's a much funnier film, with superior comic timing, even if a few of the gags seem too drawn out.
