The Factory

For most of its runtime we get a decent, if light, detective story/Stockholm Syndrome 'family' story combo that plays out like an extended episode of a crime show. Ups the degree of difficulty by going for a twist ending, which I respect, but it comes off as cringeworthy and hurts the movie. The twist is set up (barely), but either the characters or the acting prevents the payoff. I think I like the story implied by the last scene more than the one actually told here.

What a twist! Completely lame and a waste of time for Cusack. He must need cash. Carpenter's mewling is almost unbearable.

Another solid John Cusack performance (one of my favorite actors) in a so-so thriller. Think Silence of the Lambs if it was a TV movie.

Never got the hate for this one. I guess I see how to twist could annoy some, but given how it’s setup throughout the movie, I didn’t mind. The acting and pacing are both solid. It’s not the best of the genre, but it’s enjoyable enough.

disturbing kind of, and scarring if a child watches it, otherwise just okay..not an exceptional movie

This film has a really bad script. The screenplay has some disappointing twists that don't seem to fit whit the movie. The actors try their best with the material but they can not overcome the weak script.
