After more than 20 years on death row, a convicted murderer petitions the court asking to be executed. But as he tells his story, it gradually becomes clear that nothing is quite what it seems. This film is a stylistically daring experiment in storytelling, in effect a one-man play constructed from a four-day interview. (bbc.co.uk)

The over dramatization from Yarris makes almost everything ring as false for some reason. I am sure its a compelling story but this method of delivery, like a odd one man Broadway show, doesn't do it for me.

At times the performance slips a little, the artificiality made me uncomfortable but over-all it's a good story told well.

Do a little research on your own and you'll find more beyond the surface. But he is a good storyteller. I'm just not sure how much of a window this documentary gives. It's just a dramatic interview.

I think it's fine to retell one man's dramatic story in a theatrical fashion. I think it's great to have an interview with said man. But I find the mixture of the two problematic. There could be many reasons for Yarris wanting to dramatize his own misfortune, but it really makes him seem off somehow. Hm.

Mediocre Errol Morris imitation with a compelling subject.

It's no Making a murderer but still a great story told in an even greater way!
