The story is lame and the songs and comedy are both grating.

I'm struggling getting into The Durango Kid. These 1946 films in the franchise have been bland. What curios The Fighting Frontiersman (1946) does have is it being one of the very few leading lady roles Helen Mowery had during her brief stint in Hollywood. She didn't possess the greatest of acting skills, but not bad to look at. Plus you had Smiley Burnette and his crew howling a tune like dogs.
