Has quite a few good performances but lacks too much in both character development and character depth.

The Firm is Nick Love's 80's answer to his debut film 'The Football Factory'. The formula is generic, predictable and tired. But this film is still harmless enjoyment. Youngster Calum McNab carries the film convincingly well. And he's a good alternative to Danny Dyer who could have easily of been shoe horned in but wasn't. Paul Anderson steals the show though giving an incredibly brutal and intense performance. The humour, styling, outfits and great soundtrack capture a fun 80's experience.

Another entry to the current glut of football hooliganism based films, this certainly isn't a bad effort in a genre that rarely produces quality. Based strongly on Alan Clarke's 1988 film of the same name, this lacks the menace & humour of Clarke's film, but also lacks a performance like the brutal performance Gary Oldman gives in the 1988 film. None the less, it's relatively well performed, & has a great use of colour & music. But it lacks narrative, direction & character development.
