One thing that didn't make Contagion as enjoyable for me was the distant, clinical approach and lack of conflict. The Flu tackles a (smaller-scale but) similar concept, but does the opposite and focuses on a few characters and their situation. And since I couldn't care less about the fate of a few uninteresting folks, the movie collapses. Also, these characters have superhuman 'being able to find someone in a ridiculously huge crowd multiple times' skills, which annoyed me greatly.

A hot/cold mix. Seems like the Koreans are a little late to the pandemic party, though there are some social, paranoia aspects this one got right. Problem is that there's too much drama, and it's far too sappy for my taste. Also, can anyone tell me why a Korean production has some random American dude bossing around the Korean president? That's just laughable.

An extremely lazy attempt to cash in on the recent flu epidemic scares. It doesn't bring anything new to the genre, except for the unusually strong anti-government slant.

I guess they tried to make a realistic film on the spred and consequences of an epidemic, but failed quite badly. The movie is a mess and goes way over the top towards the end. I woudn't recommend it.

After watching Train to Busan my wife got the taste for more disasters from Korea so someone recommended her this one. And while a little formulistic, the flue epidemic had a lot of the same entertainment value, from a sweet little girl and her mom, all the way up to political level. Had something happening all over the place. Might have been a little better focusing the script, but regardless there was always something to keep the story going and keep it spectacular.

This shit is crazy. I totally believe that this or something very much like this could and would happen. People going crazy with fear, fear turns to hate, hate turns to rage and then the killing starts. The acting from everyone involved was spectacular, hell even the English language actors were decent.

This could have been awesome in the hands of a better writer. There were some engaging and interesting moments, but generally it was just one preposterous event after another. That plus an endless string of astronomical coincidences and plot holes undermined every other aspect of the movie. I'd recommend Ebola Syndrome instead.
