Wanted to watch this because of a giant chicken, but did not expect real rats to be shot and drowned. What a horrible thing, they only wanted some cheese

Giant carnivorous chickens...tolerable. Marjoe Gortner as a pro football player...well, that's just silly.

Wells's story is trashed in this Gordon bomb.

Unintentionally funny at times. The logic in the movie is the best though. The scene with the chicken is pretty damn funny too.

Giant chicken gets awarded 5 points though I would've probably rated this a zero, had the "no animals were harmed during the making of this picture" disclaimer popped up at the end. Poor rats...

the temptation to rate it in the high 90's was excruciating because of the unerringly eff'd-up Marjoe Gortner, but then I decided no I'll just keep it to 47.

I don't really mind the budget special effects. The chief problems are (a) the square-cube rule, and (b) the rather silly script. Still, this is better than the similar Bert I. Gordon epic _Empire of the Ants_, and many thanks to Ms. Lupino for assaying such a thankless role with such conviction

Not really a horror film, except for the fact that the rats being tortured on screen are real rats. Aside from that it’s silly fun. No movie can be that bad if Ida Lupino is wrestling a giant rat. The final standoff works pretty well. A nice Sunday afternoon movie.
