The Fool is a movie about a simple plumber. He is an honest man that is up against an entire system of corrupt bureaucrats. The lives of 800 inhabitants of an old dormitory that is at risk of collapsing during the night are at stake.

Undermined by the sophomoric, preachy presentation of the issues it tackles, although that simplicity does make it a lot more graspable to a western viewer like me. Despite that it’s a very well-told story, several of the performances are compelling (if histrionic), it has a keen understanding of its characters and environment, and it avoids a lot of the wrong turns it could have made. Also I think I prefer this Russian model of Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
