A phenomenal story with touches that make it near-perfect. Everyone is perfect. Even though Jackman doesn't have Hart's voice down, he has everything else. It's a perfect complement to Bai's book, and you should see it.

Not a bad story, about how the media uncovered that the Democrat presidential candidate was a womanizer. It's better than any of his Wolverine stuff.

a fairly smooth film that does less than nothing to justify its existence. the Hart campaign scandal has effectively vanished from the collective American consciousness; among those aware of it at all, it is more of a curiosity and footnote than a lesson in media malfeasance. that the movie itself seems to suggest Hart's guilt undermines a lot of its most compelling idea: the subversion of heroic journalists, and the transition from news to tabloids

All well made and we'll acted, but lacks the depth of story of similar movies

I don't know what to think because the story doesn't know what to think. This may just be an honest attempt to capture an interesting moment of American political history, but egads, man, creative stories need to say something regardless of intent. This really, really wants to be a great movie. And, it does have some solid performances - Jackman, Farmiga, and Simmons in particular really do a great job. But, the story is incredibly disjointed and it feels as long as it is. Ultimately, it's a pretty flat biopic that's lacking the intrigue it needs to become a classic.

Weird uncanny valley here: it's both the best direction Reitman ever pulled off and similarly fronts a received political busyness, Veep without the laughs, Altman without poetry or casualness. But unlike, say, The Post, it's not loaded with meaning either (if you discount the avalanche of sentimental political empathy the film gets stuck in in the second half). It might have helped though because I have no idea why this dutiful film exists at this particular time, or who Gary Hart really is

Not a disaster but there is practically nothing to really appreciate.
